The new rule for beach weddings

I'm considering a new rule at Good Gravy!:  If I'm designing your wedding invitation and your destination involves a beach in Mexico, I will require an initial deposit and a plane ticket.

Read the fine print.  It's in the contract.

Bird wedding invitation + perfect pair bridal shower invitation

Its been a busy few weeks.  B-U-S-Y.  Here are just a few samples of what I've been working on:
This vintage bird motif is for an October wedding to be held in Saratoga, New York.  The bride chose a chocolate, meadow and navy blue color combination for her invitation suite - great for fall!

I also just wrapped up a wedding shower invitation project.  The hostess liked the baby shower version I designed back in March and asked to modify it for a wedding shower and include matching thank you notes for the bride.

Invitations + Matching Thank You Notes = Perfect Pair. :)

Wedding favor tags: beach theme

150: That's how many of these little favor tags I put together for an upcoming wedding with a monogram 'thank you' message paired with natural jute twine.  For a beach-theme wedding, the little tags will appear on bags of bright colored saltwater taffy.  Yum.

Beach-theme wedding invitation

I recently complete a beach-theme wedding invitation project for a couple who will marry in June on the coast of Maine.

Using a "Bahama breeze" blue with sand inks, this wedding invitation suite included directions and response cards folded neatly into a vertical pocket folder and sealed with the couple's monogram.

I'll also be designing their wedding favor tags and seating assignments as their big day approaches.  More to come!

Wedding invitations: Classics for the untraditional

I recently completed two wedding invitation projects.   I can't believe it's that time of year already.  Winter is usually a small repreive but as soon as the New Year hits, brides come out of the woodwork gearing up for their spring, summer and fall weddings.

The project shown above was unusual not in design, but because it I worked directly with the sister-of-the-groom to create an invitation for a secondary wedding ceremony her family was hosting for her brother and his bride.

The invitation used navy and gold inks with a striped motif and was mounted to a shimmering gold mat.  I also imprinted the names of the recipients directly onto the envelopes...a new service I've recently offered and may expand to the everyday stationery line.  I really like how it all turned out, but it was unusual for me to complete a wedding invitation suite without ever speaking to the bride or groom!

The second project was for a small wedding to be held in a historic courthouse in California.  It was explained to me that the bride and groom have been dating for years and never had intentions of getting hitched, but when they researched qualifications for domestic partnership status, it became apparent that it was easier to just elope.

They couple requested a simple, classic invitation design using a cream and black color motif.  This photo doesn't do it justice, but the shimmering black mat gives the invitation just a smidge of "yeah, that's right, we're getting married" without being too wedding-y.

Wedding invitation: Mary + Christopher

Simplicity exudes modern style in this square wedding invitation designed for a couple in Boston, Mass. Using fresh muted colors, we paired a simple 'love birds' motif which matches a piece of jewelry the bride will wear.
