Popcorn cupcake wrappers

I love popcorn and I love cupcakes.  So this popcorn cupcake wrapper project I designed for a local bakery was a delicious fit.

The bakery is going to fuse marshmallows and airbrush yellow frosting for the buttered popcorn effect for an upcoming movie-themed birthday party and will use the wrappers I designed above to tuck the "popcorn" cupcakes inside.  Clever!

While the party for this bakery hasn't yet occurred, here's a photo I found via Project Nursery to show you the full effect:

Got an idea for a custom cupcake wrapper you'd be interested in having for an upcoming event?  Email me!  :)

Scalloped, personalized birthday banner

I was asked by a birthday client if I would create a banner for her one-year-old son, and here it is!

It's my first strung banner and I'm pleased with how it turned out using a shimmering silver scallop design and black/white images of her little one.

It was a little time-intensive handcrafting every scallop and circle, but the end design was worth it.

Thank goodness her son has a short name, though.  If it was something alpha-hefty like "CHRISTOPHER," I would have thrown in the towel.  Ha ha, kidding!  Email me if you're interested in having a custom banner of your very own.

Surprise at 40 knots: Nautical sailing birthday invitation

Thought I'd share this cute surprise party invitation for a client's husband who's about to turn 40.

Designed with colbalt blue, cottage red and slate gray inks, this nautical sailing invitation is matted to a sparkling sea cardstock.  This makes me want to be back at the beach, despite today being the first official day of autumn.

And how cute is the gift idea?!

Ladybug birthday party: Molly Jean

I recently created ladybug birthday party invitations (similar to this suite) for a little miss Molly Jean, and her family was so nice to share with me the photos from her party carrying the theme through.

I mean, seriously how cute is this cake?

Ladybug theme cupcake toppers:

And the adorable ladybug cupcakes to match (super clever with the M&Ms!):

Happy birthday, Molly!

Train theme birthday party invitation

I'm really pleased how this train theme birthday party invitation suite came together, complete with thank you notes, address labels and party favor tags.

I haven't created many birthday boy invitations, but this train theme for Jacob's 2nd birthday turned out great and I loved his mother's idea to say "Choo-Choo for Two" on the ticket.

The party favors will be wooden train whistles, so I created a ticket tag which will tie around each favor.

And finally, let's not forget the thank you notes, complete with matching address labels to round out the theme:

Butterfly birthday invitation

I'm so pleased to share this butterfly birthday invitation using vibrant grape tones paired with pink, clementine and butter colors.

Girly, but not over-the-top girly, wouldn't you agree?

I scream, you scream

I can assure you that I don't need an occasion to consume ice cream, but a recent client had the right idea by hosting an ice cream social to celebrate the start of summer.  Need another scoop of ice creamy goodness?  Check out this party inspiration.

I also had the pleasure of creating this first birthday barnyard invitation.  I found the "neighs only" to be pretty funny.

I'm sensing a food theme here, complete with eggs, bacon and dairy ice cream.

Cupcake cupcake toppers

Since the customer who ordered these cupcake toppers hasn't hosted her party yet, I don't want to give away too many details other than saying: it's a cupcake themed cupcake topper.

Makes perfect sense.  :)

Corn hole. You've probably played it.

I recently enjoyed helping a client - who has a cool and distinct, minimalist approach to design - create a birthday invitation for her father's surprise birthday party along with a dozen cupcake toppers.

Part of the invitation invites guests to enjoy the cookout with "corn hole."  Until this project, I had no idea what corn hole was, but later found out it's essentially an organized bean-bag toss game.  And now you know, too.

iPod birthday invitation

This weekend we took the kids on a snowbound sleigh ride through a local farm which was lots of fun and lots of cold (but we stayed toasty).

After the ride, Wavey informed us that we were drawn by horses on a wagon, not a sleigh.  Why?  "Because if it was a sleigh it would have magically flown, of course."  Oh yes, of course.

Also this weekend, I really enjoyed designing this invitation suite for a two-year-old who I was told LOVES listening to an iPod and dancing.

Ladybug birthday party

Last month, I designed birthday invitations and cupcake toppers for a little client named Paige.  Paige's mom took photos at the party (of course!) sharing how she tied together the black and red ladybug theme.  So cute!  But, what really impressed me what this little number:

Paige's crafty mom created this great collage temporarily using an exisiting frame her in dining room.  Clever!

Cupcake toppers

I'm pleased to introduce a new Good Gravy! scalloped cupcake topper.  We launched this idea when approached by a client who requested cupcake decor to carry through her ladybug birthday party theme, and voila!  A beautifully tall, double-sided scalloped design set atop a sturdy, crisp white stick.  Cupcakes, unfortunately, not included.

Contact us today if you're interested in having a set custom designed just for you!  Designs can match just about any motif you can dream up.

Princess tea party invitations

Back in September, Wav hosted her first "very fancy princess tea party" with her six closest friends.  Of course, I had to create formal tea party invitations because what kind of stationery designer would I be if I didn't?

For the record, that's not our actual address listed on the item above (sample modified for privacy).  But living on "Wishing Pond Drive" does have a nice ring to it.

Speaking of little Miss W, check out the insane curls and the mischief in her eyes.  Anyone who knows me personally understands that this child certainly is mine on the inside yet polar opposite on the outside.  How can I refuse hosting another fancy princess tea party from a face like this?

Vintage child's birthday card

Near our house is a hole-in-the-wall antique store (a description that is nothing short of accurate).  Among the smokiness and the clutter inside is a treasure trove of neat little knick-knacks and other cool finds.  Last weekend, I came across a pack of stationery and greeting cards presumably having all belonged to the same recipient, a mother who kept her correspondence saved together for years and years.

Among them were birthday cards from 1920s, 30s and 40s, including cards she may have held onto to give with her own gifts...like the one featured above.  Maybe it's because our Gravy Kid Wavey is also four, but I found this card to be really interesting.  For its time, the card is very intricate with die cutting, multiple colors, shimmery paper, and even a little cut out for a peek-a-boo cat inside:

More photos of my vintage treasure to come.

Red and black and cute all over

It doesn't get much cuter than this for a little girl's first birthday party.  And we really enjoyed designing this invitation suite complete with front and back envelope labels that really dress up the theme.

Princess tea party

Since we're in the celebration business, we recently had a party of our own...a princess tea party! And we laughed when around the same time as planning our own event, we received a request for a tea party invitation from another client (see below). 'Tis the season, perhaps? We'll share Waverly's invitation soon.

Our gravy kids were just delighted when Sleeping Beauty from Little Miss Princess Parties dropped in for a visit to play games, tell stories and just have some princess fun. Surprisingly, Griffin was all over Sleeping Beauty, so maybe he has an affinity for blondes?

Every doll deserves a tea party

What a delightful way to celebrate two birthdays by hosting a joint tea party! We love the way this invitation came together with the petal pink script paired with the fine lines of the graphite text.

Happy birthday, Caroline and Grace!
