Pay no attention to the green waft coming from the top of my house today. It's just that our dog Jack got skunked late last night.
Being late, we couldn't remember the difference between the ingredients in the common de-skunk soap solution and a third-grade science volcano. Baking soda? Soap? Water? Hydrogen peroxide?
We skipped on the peroxide and opted for baking soda + soap + water. Yeah, not so much. We, the dog and the house now smell like burnt tires. Ick. Any suggestions on getting out the stink would be greatly appreciated.
PS: The only room saved from the smell was my studio. The moment I realized what had happened, I stuffed towels against the closed doors. It's my only refuge!

Bath your dog in minty mouthwash! NO JOKE, it does wonders! Way better than tomato juice or anything like that. Takes out the smell, plus gives him/her a nice fresh smell! ;)
You're one smart girl (with regards to saving your studio). That's a good thing...wouldn't want to say "Happy Holidays" with something "extra"!
PS - I've heard Listerine or any other antiseptic mouthwash as well as what you used with DISH SOAP, which creates some sort of chemical reaction *just don't let it sit for too long because it will become inactive. Not so sure about using your pup as a science lab though!
eww!!! well, my great-uncle from NH swore by tomato juice! best of luck! hugs!

I say stay in your studio until it 'wears off'!!
Yuck! How awful! I wish I could help but I honestly have no idea.
Send Jack to the groomer and put little cups of vinegar all over the house. The vinegar will absorb the smell. Been there my friend, been there. :)
no fun :o(. i second tomato juice. it really does work (you have to use a lot though)
i sent you a link, no idea if it will work!
what a bummer...that has never happened in this house.
enjoy your weekend!
Honestly, lemon soap is the way to go. It won't dry his skin out too much. Also, if at all possible, vinegar or bleach (not together) in small cups around the house at night will absorb the smell. Good luck!
ohhh that stinks!! I say call the local groomer and ask for the best de-skunk bath they have and make someone else do the dirty work.
No advice! That sucks though, I am SO sorry to hear it, ick! And I was just complaining about the cat box, you gave me gratitude! XX!
oh no:/ what did you decide to do? can you do an update in case that ever happens to my pupster so i will know what to do and what works and what doesn't? how did the kiddos respond to mr. skunk smell?
Oh man! I'm sorry. Hope that everyone else has advice that works. I do not. But would be interested in knowing what does end up working. Good luck!
