Chubby hands need not apply

Dear car seat manufacturer,

I appreciate that your design is top-notch in safety and comfort.  However, the next time my 2.5 year old vomits possibly from french fry overload (mother of the year) all over your seat and I have to disassemble it to wash/scrub/burn all straps, hooks and upholstery, I would like you to please issue your standard rocket scientist to my home (preferably with tiny, tiny hands and fingers to manuever through the impossible nooks and crannies) to put it back together again.

Fondly remembering the most gruesome 10 mile drive of my weekend,
Photobucket

i am sorry for the carseat...and the clean up! that is the worst. i have washed them out before...not due to sickness, just because and they were awful to get back on!

Oh dear. Something I never want to go through. Probably won't get out of it though will I?

ugh..we had that happen too. We thought we got most of it out...but every once in a while, I can smell it. It's almost better to just buy a whole new seat - maybe that's their plan :)

BLEH! oh, if there's one thing that I don't do well around it's definitely vomit. You're a strong woman... my plan would have been to pick the whole thing up and just dump it in the trash as soon as we got home! :]

Huh? I thought they were disposable- Never heard of anyone actually taking apart a car seat and trying to put it back together! I think if you call Britax and explain the situation they will gladly mail you a replacement..... fa real.

SERIOUSLY! I don't know what all these comments are talking about... I know you like to be sarcastic and all but this IS NOT A SARCASTIC post people! We spent an entire day of our vacation trying to figure out how to take the covers off and wash them... forget about trying to get them back on... I said no more food in the car from here on (it lasted 2 days)... hmmm LOVE your blog! :)

Fortunately this only happened to for the first time recently (on our way to Story Land- also from fast food overload). I don't know which was worse, the result of the overload or the realization that I really should have disassembled the car seat to clean before my son was three years old!

Great post, love it!

I love ALL of these comments - thanks for all your input. It certainly helps to know that I'm not alone in my disgust for vomit and complicated car seats. :)

I got good at taking the car seat apart while Will was going through potty training and then ... I had to take the seat apart for the first time after having Joseph. I couldn't remember how to do it! It wasn't frustrating trying to put it back together but frustrating that I knew I should know how to do it but couldn't!

I know, right? Why don't they include instructions for how to put the blasted seat cover back on?!?! When Ash peed hers, I washed it and then I had to call a friend to bring her carseat over so I could figure out how to put mine back together. Pain in the patootie!

Oh my gosh this happened to me!!! My son barfed up a strawberry italian soda everywhere. It's the hardest smell to get rid of--and cleaning the car seat? Forget about it! If I hadn't spent 300 bucks on the carseat I would have thrown it away. Probably the biggest gross out of the year for me!
